Congratulations Mrs. Mary Redd Nelson!
Our beloved Board Chair, Mrs. Mary Redd Nelson was recently honored on March 8th, 2024 at Bank St Memorial Baptist Church for her near 80 years of community service!

NAACP Life Member Nelson is a 1967 Alumna of the
Richmond-based university and served for a number of
years as Director of the Hampton Roads Urban League.
She also served as an administrator at the Chesapeake
Redevelopment and Housing Authority before retirement.
During the program of appreciation, a $35,000 Mary Redd Nelson
Endowed Scholarship was established and
presented to VUU President, Hakim Lucas, in honor of Mrs. Nelson.

Mrs. Mary Redd Neslson has been a devoted leader and model citizen for all of us here in the Oakmont Community. Her graceful spirit is a fundamental to our success, so next time you stop by, show her some love!
